This course provides an introduction to the historical, philosophical, ethical, and theoretical perspectives of social work practice. Factors distinguishing social work practice will be introduced, including social work values, ethics, theories, and models of practice. This course also examines the impact of oppression and marginalization on individuals, children and families, and communities, including the role of social work in contributing to colonization and decolonization in Canada.
