SRMG 2440 - Community Development Credit(s): 3 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Lecture, Blended, Online Community development is an effective means of promoting safe, inclusive recreation opportunities through a multi-stakeholder approach with residents, municipalities, sport leagues, and other not-for-profit contributors. The course prepares the recreation professional to be an agent of change while promoting a sense of belonging. Emphasis is on utilizing evidence-based approaches to community-building and facilitating grassroots change. Students explore models in community assessment, dynamics of engaging residents to provide input, empowering community members to co-design relevant plans, then outlining methods for monitoring and measuring outcomes.
Prerequisite(s): HPED 1640 .
