ANTH 2214 - Anthropological Encounters on the Northwest Coast Credit(s): 3 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Lecture
This course is a selective survey of the ethnographic representations of the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast that have shaped anthropological knowledge, theory, and method. Topics may include anthropological and Indigenous perspectives on Indigenous languages, subsistence, sociopolitical organization, religious and artistic expression, gendered identities, colonialism and post-colonialism, land claims, and the environment.
Recommended Preparation: At least one 1000-level course in Anthropology, Archaeology, Psychology or Sociology.
