This course provides students with a deeper understanding of the Canadian criminal legal system through an examination of its colonial roots. Students will gain an understanding of actus reus, mens rea, parties to a criminal offense, criminal liability, due process, and legal defenses. Selected criminal offenses will be reviewed.

Prerequisite(s): CRJS 1003 and CRJS 1010.
