Flight Training

Students in the Flight Crew Operations concentration have the option to participate in training toward a Commercial Pilot Licence and Multi-Engine Instrument Rating. The information below pertains to students planning to participate in flight training.

Requirements

Students who intend to register in FLTR courses must have a Category 1 Aviation Medical issued by Transport Canada and hold a Class 1 Medical for the entire period of their training. A Canadian Private Pilot Licence is also required.

Students registered in FLTR courses must take each course in the appropriate sequence, only registering in subsequent FLTR courses when given the appropriate registration form. Students who wish to have credit for previous flight training must contact the Chief Flight Instructor to discuss a plan for determining what credit may be received. Flight training, simulator training, or ground briefing may be part of the process to determine the appropriate FLTR placement of the student.

Students should be aware that Transport Canada requires that all of the licensing requirements for the Commercial Licence must be completed within one year of the date of the flight test. As a result, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the timing of their flight test is planned accordingly, in order to ensure they will not have to retake the flight test.
