CHEM 4603 - Symmetry and Spectroscopy Credit(s): 3 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Blended, Lecture, Online This course looks at atomic and molecular spectroscopy from a quantum mechanical perspective. Group theory is used to investigate the implications of symmetries of the Schrodinger equation for electronic, vibrational and rotational spectra. An introduction to the quantum theory of nuclear magnetic resonance is also included.
Prerequisite(s): CHEM 3602 or PHYS 3602 with a grade of C- or higher. Note: PHYS 4603 and CHEM 4603 are identical courses. Only one of these courses will count towards GPA calculation and graduation.
