AIRF 4204 - Air Transport Economics/Global Aviation Business Credit(s): 3 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Lecture This course will give students a more in-depth understanding of the economic impact of airlines on the global economy, airline pricing and revenues, airline corporate strategic financial planning, the international regulatory framework, the impact of deregulation, the geopolitics of aviation, airport economics and its integration with airlines, the environmental issues, global airport financial models, and challenges facing the air transport industry. The course will further review the roles of IATA, TIACA, ICAO, and various labour unions and management relations that affect airline economics. The impact of key geo-political events such as Covid-19 on airline economic models and future geo-political challenges will be reviewed in detail to build robust models and to seek risk mitigation strategies to limit financial damage to the airline and to the regional and global economies.
