This second-year course is designed to deepen students’ understanding of health and illness across diverse populations, with a strong emphasis on the determinants of health and primary health care principles. Through a combination of academic study and simulated practice, students will develop the knowledge, skills, and judgment required to provide safe, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care to individuals, families, communities, and population groups.

Students will explore the impact of health alterations on people and their environments, applying critical thinking and caring inquiry to assess, plan and evaluate nursing interventions. The course fosters collaborative partnerships and introduces advocacy and capacity-building strategies to support health promotion and illness prevention.

By the end of the course, students will demonstrate competence in integrating theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, interpreting complex health scenarios, and making informed recommendations for nursing care in both simulated and real-world settings.
