It develops more powerful mathematical methods and applies them to more realistic systems. The topics covered include: the theory of angular momentum, three-dimensional problems, time-independent and time-dependent perturbation theories, applications to fine structure and radiation, systems of several particles, and scattering.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 3200 and either CHEM 3602 or PHYS 3602, both with a grade of C- or higher. Note: PHYS 4602 and CHEM 4602 are identical courses. Only one of these courses will count towards GPA calculation and graduation
