PHED 2104 - Introductory Power Skating and Hockey Coaching Credit(s): 1.5 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Lecture This is a theoretical and practical course on power skating techniques and ice hockey skills. The student will learn how to teach skating and organize hockey sessions for skill development. Topics include: proper use of biomechanical principles in skating; proper use of edges; drills to develop skating skills and techniques to develop necessary strength and power both on and off the ice. The student will be shown the proper execution of all basic hockey skills - shooting, passing, stickhandling and checking - and will be taught proven teaching progressions for each.
