BIOL 2202 - Cellular and Molecular Biology (3 credits) 3 hours lecture Lecture This course provides a thorough study of cell structure and function. Topics studied are (a) basic genetic mechanisms including the characteristics of chromosomes, DNA replication and repair, transcription and translation, and the regulation of gene expression, (b) methods used to study macromolecules and to visualize cells, (c) characteristics of membranes, (d) organelles, (e) cell communication, (f) the cell cycle and cell division, (g) cell junctions, cell adhesion and the extracellular matrix, and (h) cancer.
