HLTH 2250 - Introduction to Information and Research Literacies (3 credits) 3 hours lecture Lecture In this course, students will gain an appreciation for several ways of knowing that generate evidence for professional health and community care practices. The main focus of the course, however, is the particular value and utility of research knowledge as evidence for practice. The primary learning outcome of the course is a beginning capacity to perform the first four steps of the evidence-informed decision-making process (define, search, appraise, and synthesize) in the context of ethical, client-focused, intra and interprofessional practice. Students will also acquire a beginning understanding of the research process and of the research methods used in both the quantitative and qualitative paradigms as components of the capacity for evidence-informed decision-making.
