SPAN 4411 - Twentieth-Century Literature from Spanish America

This course will explore a variety of Spanish American texts by authors such as Quiroga, Borges and Carpentier. Different types of writing, including naturalist, fantastic and magic realism, will be explored. Along with the specific analysis of texts, the sociocultural context of each writer and their historical period will be considered.
