XMAT 25017 - Practicum II

Implement the day-to-day practice of massage therapy in the on-site student practicum clinic. Client confidentiality and privacy practices will continue to be developed. Utilize skills learned to date with a focus on orthopedic assessment and therapeutic exercise. Refine professionalism, time management, accurate application of massage techniques, and awareness of anatomy. Body mechanics and personal safety are also a focus in this supervised environment as students provide a massage treatment to members of the public.

Prerequisite(s):

A minimum grade of B- in one of XMAT 25009 or XMAT 20501 ;
A minimum grade of B- in one of XMAT 25010 or XMAT 20004 ;
A minimum grade of B- in one of XMAT 25011 or XMAT 20600 ;
XMAT 25012 or a minimum grade of B- in both XMAT 20910 and XMAT 20911 .

Note: Students must provide proof of current Certification of “Standard First Aid and CPR Level C”. Evidence of certification is required prior to the commencement of the experiential learning courses - Practicum I, II, III, IV and Outreach I, II, III. All associated costs are the responsibility of the student.
