SLWK 4515 - Emerging Issues in Social Work Practice: Child Intervention Credit(s): 3 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Blended, Lecture, Online This advanced course will examine the complex issues emerging in the child intervention system. Areas of focus will include colonization, addictions and mental health, trauma, migration, and the interface with the judicial systems. Particular focus will include the long-standing over-representation of Indigenous children in Canada’s child intervention systems. The course will look at the practical application of public policy, tribunal, and international agreements. Additionally, the course introduces students to legislation and policy, relevant to child intervention practice.
Prerequisite(s): A grade of C or higher in SLWK 3521 .
