WGST 2283 - Gender, Aging, and Social Justice

This course explores contemporary issues in gender, aging, and social justice. Attending to pasts, presents, and futures of aging in Canada and around the world students will examine entanglements of colonialism, racism, ageism, sexism, cis-heterosexism and ableism in societal positions and treatment of older adults. Selected themes may include employment and retirement; caregiving and healthcare access; aging and built environments; aging in the diaspora; and kinship, friendship, and intimacy. 

Recommended Preparation: WGST 1172  or any 2000-level WGST course.
