ATTH 2050 - Professional Practice in Athletic Therapy

This course is the first practicum for students majoring in Bachelor of Health and Physical Education - Athletic Therapy, which is comprised of two components. The first component is delivered with online content and focuses on specific theories related to professionalism within the Athletic Therapy profession as outlined by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association Scope of Practice and Professional Competencies List. It will include subtopics of professionalism including but not limited to: communication skills, ethical practice, reliability/dependability, work ethic, compassion and problem-solving. Students must also complete an unpaid practicum where students shadow a Certified Athletic Therapist(s) for a minimum of 50 hours.

Prerequisite(s): HPED 1000 and HPED 1020.
Note: Students must be prepared to attend clinical/field practicum anywhere in Calgary and must be open to options outside of Calgary.
