ENGL 2209 - Introduction to Dramatic Literature and Theatre Credit(s): 3 Lecture Hour(s): 3 Lecture Hours Schedule Type: Lecture
This course introduces students to the foundational elements of dramatic literature, theatre, and performance. Students will experience creative work that has contributed to the world of theatre and artistic expression. They will consider play texts in a variety of contexts across time and place, journeying from tragic form in Ancient Greece to Indigenous resurgence on Turtle Island. In addition to examining plays on the page, the course explores plays on the stage and their impact on audiences. Students will gain experiential knowledge in their reception and analysis of performances ranging from full-scale productions to everyday live presentations
Prerequisite(s): One of ENGL 1101 /GNED 1401 , GNED 1403 , GNED 1404 , ENGL 1151 , ENGL 1152 , ENGL 2207 , or ENGL 2263 . GNED Cluster 4 - Tier 2
